The Next Brilliant Career invites emerging Australian writers who identify as women or non-binary to submit an original concept for the opportunity to pitch their work to Netflix and receive structured feedback in developing the story for screen. 

Application period: 4 August 2026 – 18 August 2026 (Closing Date). One application is permitted per person; group applications are not accepted. You will not be able to resubmit your application if you make an error, so please take time in submitting. 

Only successful applicants will receive further correspondence once the application window closes. A representative from Netflix will contact you via the phone and/or email address provided in this application on 28 September 2026. If you do not hear from us by this date, we are grateful for your application but you will not be progressing in the program.

Eligibility Screening

This reflects the Eligibility Criteria at T&Cs Section 3.

Are you 18 years of age or older at the time of this application? * Required
Are you an Australian resident? * Required
Do you identify as a woman or non-binary? * Required
Are you currently a full-time student? * Required
Do you hold at least one (1) and no more than three (3) reportable writer credits on a commercially released short film, film or television series that has screened at a recognised film festival and/or been supported by a state or federal screen agency? * Required
